Thomas Feichtner born in Vitoria, Brazil, while his Austrian parents were employed abroad.

1972
The Feichtner family moves back to Linz in Austria after three years abroad.

1982
The Feichtner family moves to Düsseldorf, Germany.

1989
High school graduation in Düsseldorf.

Feichtner begins attending the University of Arts and Industrial Design, Linz in the field of industrial design, with Univ.-Prof. Mag. art. Horst Meru.

1991
Work in the field of film and video with Univ.-Prof. Mag. Janusz Kondratiuk at the University of Arts and Industrial Design, Linz.

Illustration and drawing of renderings for Saatchi & Saatchi in Vienna and several architecture offices in Austria.

1992
Group exhibition The Passage in the shell of the Arkade Linz building, in collaboration with experimental design students studying with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Herbert Lachmayer and the faculty of metal from Univ.-Prof. Mag. art. Helmuth Gsöllpointner. Publication.

1993
Award and exhibition of the international Design Award “The Cutlery” Deutsches Klingenmuseum Solingen, Germany. Publication.

First exhibition of several design projects and studies “Ansichtssache Design” at the Gallery Forum in Wels, Austria. Keynote speaker: Prof. Dr. Gerhard M. Buurman. Interaction Design, Zurich University of the Arts, Switzerland. Publication.

Freelancer at the Institute of Design and Knowledge Transfer, Univ.-Prof. Mag. art. Christian Fenzl. Jointly awarded with the Austrian National Prize of the Austrian republic for the project “Fox,” a portable pump for fighting fires.

1994
First prize, with Peggy Thoeny, for the Design Award “The Souvenir of Linz” announced from the VOEST Alpine and the University of Arts and Industrial Design Linz.

1995
Graphic design for the snowboard manufacturer Heavy Tools GmbH Snowboard collection 1996/97. Designed several products for the Heavy Tools brand: snowboards, snowboard bindings, Skateboards, BMX- and mountain bikes.

Design of the Austrian sanitation  vehicle, with Univ.-Prof. Mag. art. Christian Fenzl. Vehicles: Rotopress and Variopress of the motor vehicle manufacturer MUT, Stockerau, Austria.

Three-month motorcycle trip through Western Europe to Northern Africa.

1996
First design of a ski binding for Tyrolia Sport- und Freizeitgeräte GmbH, Schwechat, Austria. “Freeflex,”  the most successful ski binding in ski-race history.

1997

Design of the ski binding SL100 for Tyrolia, the all-time top selling ski binding. Tyrolia becomes the world’s biggest producer of ski bindings.

Member of design austria, the association of Austrian designers.

1998
Design of Tyrolia’s entire collection. Multiple awards.

Exhibition of the “DS2” a sport device and design study, ISPO, Munich, Germany and Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, USA.

1999
Design of the ballpoint pen with an integrated mark “Twin”. Trodat GmbH, Wels, Austria

Chief of the design department with HEAD AG, Kennelbach, Austria. Design of several winter sport products, including skis, ski boots, ski poles, sportswear and bags. (1999-2001)

2000
Design of a portable power generator for fire-fighting equipment for the fire-fighting supplier Rosenbauer International AG, Leonding, Austria

2001
Co-founded a studio for visual communication together with two graphic designers; The Buchegger, Denoth, Feichtner GmbH, Linz. (2001-2009)

2002
Design of a worldwide campaign for Adidas (2002-2005), which won multiple awards. Acquired for the permanent graphic design collection, Museums für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, Museum of Art and Industry, Hamburg, Germany.

Became a lecturer at the University for Art and Industrial Design, Linz, in the field of Industrial Design.

2003
Nominated for the Cannes-Lion at the International Advertising Festival Cannes 2003, France, in the Category Print and Outdoor for the theatre poster “Abstinence” for the play of H.C. Artmann. Theaterachse Salzburg, Austria.

Cofounding of BDFnet Gmbh, agency for new media, Vienna. (2003-2009)

2004
Graphic design of the opening from the Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz, Museum of Modern Art Linz. Multiple awards.

2005
Visited Art Basel Miami, USA, including  the installation “Paved with good intentions“ by Ron Arad. Joined the first Design Miami.

Began work on the “Axiome” collection. Starting with the Axiome Chair.

2006
Journey though eastern China between Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Graphic design of the international image campaign of Swarovski Optik, Absam, Austria. Multiple awarded.

Marriage to Simone, designer and gallery owner in Linz, Austria.

Member of jury, awarding the CCA-Venus of the Creativ Club Austria.

Design of the FX10 Lounge Chair, first presented at the 100% east, London. Produced by the Neue Wiener Werkstaette, Austria.

Design of the Table Chair, a hybrid furniture piece that functions as both table and chair. Produced by the Neue Wiener Werkstaette, Austria.

2007
Cofounded the consortium Buchegger, Denoth, Feichtner, Haslinger, Keck for designing the communication presence of Linz09, the European Capital of Culture 2009 together with Haslinger, Keck advertising agency in Linz. (2007-2009) Multiple awards.

Graphic design of the book Ron Arad, paved with good intentions, an installation by Ron Arad, December 2005, Collins Building Miami. ISBN 978-0-9723108-3-3. First presentation of the book at the Friedman Benda Gallery, New York, USA.
